Azamara Journey is a destination cruise ship owned by Azamara Club Cruises a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises. Journey was built in 2000 by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire. In 2008 she was transferred to Azamara to become Journey. She will enter drydock in the Bahamas, January 2016 for an extensive refurbishment.
In preparation for the drydock, our Team Waveguide, led by James (JW) Whelpley has been working since November 25, 2015 completing Phase 1 and 2 on December 23, 2015. This work was completed during live cruises which must always be done without interruption to guest comfort. During Phase 1, Team Waveguide opened and closed penetrations, installed, terminated and tested 385 cables for WiFi in seven Remote Distribution Hubs. All public space access points were also installed. The Phase 2 scope that was also completed during this time, included installing a fiber optic link between the data center and six remote distribution hubs, power cable installation for both UPS and Dirty Power Cabling.
Team Waveguide will return for Phase 3 during the drydock beginning January 13, 2016. Our team will also be implementing a Data Center Upgrade, CCTV Upgrade to digital, Casino Cabling, Digital Signage Cabling, Embarkation Cabling, POS Printer Cabling, Fiber Optic Cabling, UPS and Power Cabling. All cabling will require penetrations, terminations and testing. All cables will be terminated in outlet boxes on the field end as well.
