Odyssey of the Seas, slated to be delivered in April 2021, is Royal Caribbean’s newest Quantum Ultra-class vessel. Odyssey will be the first in the Quantum Ultra-class to sail in both the United States and Europe, starting with its first sailing from Europe.
Before the ship sets sail, there is still a lot of work to do. Waveguide will install network equipment in both data centers onboard, as well as install inter-rack fiber and copper cabling, troubleshoot, and label/document all connections.
On the Odyssey’s phone system, we will install and document more than 3,900 telephones in passenger cabins, crew cabins, and common passenger spaces. We are also responsible for installation of over 2,000 wireless Internet access points in cabins, and another 1,300 in passenger & technical spaces. In addition to access points, approximately 1,900 network connectivity switches will be installed inside cabin technical lockers.
Even after all installation is complete, still more final adjustments and checks will remain. We will complete final troubleshooting with the onboard I.T. staff. Upon project completion we will provide complete documentation and reporting to our Customer, Royal Caribbean.
