Oasis of the Seas Revitalization September 2019

Oasis of the Seas is a destination cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean International. The ship was built in 2009 by STX Europe Turku Shipyard, Finland. In September of 2019 she entered drydock in Cadiz, Spain and has undertaken an extensive refurbishment, which as of now is the largest dry dock Royal Caribbean has ever conducted.

The Waveguide Communications Dry Dock team had their work cut out for them during this project with a very large scope of work. This included installation, testing and termination of more than 900 new CAT6 cables for various projects as part of the scope of work. The team also replaced more than 2,000 12-port network switches in passenger and crew staterooms onboard for in-stateroom television (MYTV), phone connectivity (PBX), and wired data connections. In addition they also installed more than 2,200 new networked TVs to crew staterooms as well as a staggering 3,900 new wireless access points throughout the vessel. This truly was quite the project for the drydock team!

Great job Team Waveguide!
